RHD916A Railway Automatic Equipment Identification (AEI) System - 4-port version

The RHD916A railway automatic vehicle identification (AEI) system is a dual-standard solution compliant with both TB/T3070-2002 (China Railway standard) and ISO 10374 (AAR) international standards. It reads TRANSCORE, SRT, XC, and HTK type AAR-encoded tags as well as next-generation FM0 encoded vehicle and locomotive tags. The system is built on a discrete RF architecture (PLL + IQ quadrature demodulation + FPGA protocol engine + MCU controller), with both hardware and software designed in-house.

System Composition: Wayside equipment (AEI host + wheel sensors + ground antenna + axle counting & vehicle detection unit + cabling & protection) + On-board tags (20-bit electronic tags). Designed to meet railway engineering requirements.

Key Features

  • Universal Tag Compatibility: Correctly reads TRANSCORE, SRT, XC, and HTK type traditional AAR-encoded tags as well as FM0-encoded vehicle and locomotive tags. Supports China Railway FM0, MID FM0, and TW/YW/WB/AG/HK user-defined tag protocols.
  • Discrete Architecture: RF front-end based on independent PLL + IQ quadrature demodulation; baseband implemented with FPGA programmable protocol engine. Non-standard protocols can be supported via firmware upgrades.
  • Auto Axle Counting & Vehicle Detection: Works with wheel sensors (magnetic) to automatically count axles, determine locomotive and vehicle counts, locate tags, and measure passing speed.
  • Multi-Interface Communication: RS232 (up to 100m), RS485 (up to 1000m), and RJ45 connectivity options for flexible system integration.
  • Industrial-Grade Reliability: -30°C to +75°C operating temperature range. N-type RF connectors are more robust than SMA. Real-time self-diagnostics for RF channels, decoding channels, antenna, and wheel sensor connections.
  • In-House Design: From discrete components to MCU firmware to FPGA protocol stack — all independently developed. Encoding formats can be upgraded to stay aligned with China Railway standards.
